As an open source project, Shibboleth has an evolving and growing (though incomplete) set of documentation and resources available online. The most general documentation available is in the wiki (see link at left).
The version officially supported for use at LSU is version 3.3.3. You should always use the latest version released when possible. Minor release updates are generally simple, and are backward compatible.
This site provides information about deployment of specific use to the LSU community. You should at least skim the installation material before beginning the process, and then follow it along as you install.
If you're deploying Shibboleth in production, please subscribe any technical contacts to the shib-l@listserv.lsu.edu mailing list for receiving official notices regarding LSU-specific system issues, outages, and so forth. You should also subscribe to the general Shibboleth announcement list (see the project web site for details).
